Graphic Organizers

Why are Graphic Organizers important?

There are many different types of graphic organizers that a teacher can give students to make sure they are organized and have have the correct knowledge. Meaning that teacher now has the opportunity to help the students collect the write notes and in a way help students study for future tests.

What do Graphic organizers look like?

Graphic organizers have many different shapes and sizes in order to organize data. Below are some of the different types of graphic organizers that teachers can give students. The First is the Venn Diagram. The Venn Diagram is one of the best tools for compare and contrast. It allows students to view both what makes the subjects different, but a like as well. One topic formulates the information for one circle and the second topic formulates the topic for the other. These individual circles are where the separate topics show their differences. In the middle, where the two topics collide the student would input information that is true for both topics.

Another type of graphic organizer is called a "T-Chart." This organizer is called a T-chart because it forms a "T" shape. An example is below, however some T-charts have a space on the bottom of the page for a summary as well! A T-Chart is a fantastic tool for teachers to use for before/after an event or even a cause and effect. In the example below the students would have two subjects with a certain event going down the center dividing them.
